Club Information

Minutes and Newsletters.  Please find older examples of our minutes and newsletters.  The newsletters get published and distributed five days before each month's meeting.  The minutes get published once approved by the club.

Articles.  Currently, the President of the Dearborn Democratic Club, Morris Goodman, writes a column for the Dearborn Press and guide, representing the democratic perspective on a pre-chosen topic.  The only example I have is from a July, 2007 issue regarding comprehensive immigration reform.  If any other member publishes an article, it will be represented here.

History.  As you know, every website has an "under construction" section.  Well, this is it for this site.  We have had Mayor O'Reilly as President of this club, his mother was a president of this club, Fred Hoffman, who is now the state liaison for Chrysler as a president of this club, and Jim Stokes, the head of Governor Granholm's Appointments as a president of this club.  Talk about History!!  Well, once the dates and names are revealed, a nice section on the club's history will be highlighted.

Meetings. The meetings typically last and hour and a half at the last Wednesday of every month.  Sometimes, we have special events outside of the meeting times, and that will also be announced.  There are also committtes and sub-committees, such as the fundraising committee, and the PAC Committee that meet outside of the designated meeting times.

  • Where:  UAW Local 245, 1226 Monroe Avenue, Dearborn, MI.
  • When:  7:00pm, last Wednesday of every month (doors open @ 7pm for refreshments, except Nov-Dec combines into holiday party first Wednesday of December).
  • What:  Meetings that last 1-11/2 hours - usually, a guest speaker highlights the evening.
  • Who:  You, hopefully.

Special Events.  There are times when we sponsor forums outside of the meeting times, including Candidate Forums.  For example:

  • Summer, 2006 we hosted a forum on "The Future of the Automotive Industry, Where Do We Go From Here?"  We had speakers representing the governmental, academic and business perspectives.
  • January, 2007 we hosted a mayoral forum which obtained extensive coverage in the Dearborn Press and Guide, highlighting the positions of all the Dearborn Mayoral candidates.
  • July, 2007 we hosted a forum at the Arab American National Museum on "Comprehensive Immigration Reform:  Where Do We Go From Here?" and had a lively discussion on this most important topic.

In the next few months, we are in the process of organizing a forum at one of our future meetings on Universal Health Care.
