Dear Democratic Congressional Members and Senators Representing Michigan:
The Dearborn Democratic Club urges the Michigan Democratic Congressional Delegation to support the public option as a choice in any existing and upcoming proposed health care legislation.
The Dearborn Democratic Club has dedicated three meetings to this issue this year alone. Furthermore, we have conducted sessions outside of regular meeting times, have reviewed the options and have determined that the public option will do the best job at containing costs while simultaneously improving health outcomes and increasing health care access for millions more fellow Americans.
Like you, we are making an effort to debunk myths and educate the public on health care reform.
We believe the public option does the best job at introducing honest competition that will drive down costs without compromising care for American families currently experiencing runaway deductibles, or worse, personal bankruptcy.
We understand those who like their health insurance can keep it. That said, at every turn, all indicators suggest a broken system requiring effective remedy.
We know we have partners in Congress who understand the necessity of preserving the public option. We urge you to act on that understanding and defend it in all interactions with colleagues, constituents, interest groups, lobbyists and citizens.
We hope this understanding ultimately translates into a "yes" vote by all members of the Delegation.
Sincerely yours,
The Dearborn Democratic Club
